Wishful Thinking

I previously mentioned that I’m participating in this round of Blogging 101 for WordPress users.  Today’s task is to publish a post based on a blogging prompt provided by “The Daily Post”.  I’ll admit I hit the “try another prompt” several times before settling on one.  The first one I chose was too easy, I could just cut and paste from some previous posts and be done.  I bravely clicked on “try another prompt” again and stumbled upon something wonderful:

“A Bird, A Plane, You!  You get to choose one superpower. Pick one of these and explain your choice:  the ability to speak and understand any language; the ability to travel through time; or, the ability to make any two people agree with each other.”

What a great prompt–and choosing between the three options was a no-brainer.  My choice:  time travel, hands down.  With this ability I could travel back to visit people I admire– great creative people in history.  How exciting is that?!

The first person I would time travel to meet is Leonardo da Vinci.  Often called the most diversely talented person ever to have lived, da Vinci wasn’t just a painter–he was also an inventor, a mathematician, architect, musician, engineer and writer.  Man….what a brain to pick!!!  And to watch him work in his notebooks, to find out what his inspiration was for the tank, the helicopter, ball bearings?  How did he make all these connections from art, nature and science?  And why didn’t he pursue any of the inventions he recorded in his copious notebooks?  We could compare notes, written backward aka “Mirror Writing” of course!

Since I wouldn’t be bound by the “Prime Directive”, I could tell Leonardo what an impact his notebooks had and how many of his musings are now reality.  I’d also tell him that his paintings are revered as masterpieces and hang in the most prestigious museums.  In return, I’m hoping that some his unending curiosity and inventiveness will rub off on me.  Fair exchange, don’t you think?

Tell me, if you could time travel, where would you go and who would you meet?
